Powerful MPs back Young Enterprise on the National Curriculum
The Young Enterprise campaign to establish enterprise education in the National Curriculum received a powerful boost from MPs.
In a major new report, the All Party Parliamentary Small Business Group concluded: 'The Government should consider how best entrepreneurial spirit can be incorporated into the school curriculum. Encouraging closer links between schools and local businesses should be welcomed and strengthened.'

Record numbers of Budding Young Entrepreneurs compete for the best North West Wales Young Enterprise Company and Team of the year awards
A packed out North West Wales Young Enterprise area final took place at the Celtic Royal Hotel in Caernarfon on Thursday April 26th and were supported by a number of local and national business and business organisations, including the ACCA,IOSH, Careers Wales and the FSB. It was the culmination of the Company and Team Programme competition, and a celebration of the young business people taking part.

Brilliant Mikhail beats serious illness to become Young Enterprise star
A student who only two years ago was battling a life-threatening illness has emerged as both a top scholar and a Young Enterprise star.
Mikhail Devitt, 18, endured nine months of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery after he discovered a cancerous lump. But after nine months of going in and out of hospital during his GCSE year Mikhail achieved 10 GSCEs, including seven As and two A-stars.
Immediately after GCSEs he decided to do work experience with a financial institution in London. He came back with a stronger focus on the future and what he wanted to achieve.
Using his newly discovered business acumen Mikhail helped set up a school-based Young Enterprise business selling fairtrade gift packs imported from Thailand.

Cheers! Young Enterprise drink awareness beer mats feature on BBC TV's Midlands Today
A company set up by school students after coming up with a business idea to curb reckless drinking featured on BBC TV's Midlands Today.
Pupils at Warwick School and King's High School came up with the idea of beer mats showing recommended daily alcohol limits.
They are hoping to get the product into pubs across the country. On the one side the mats feature guidance on safe drinking limits and on the other there is advertising to pay for the production of the mats.

Young Enterprise teams up with BBC to take business roadshow to schools
Young Enterprise is joining forces with the BBC and Leopard Films to inspire children in real schools across Britain with the excitement and challenges of business.
The Corporation has commissioned a new series of the hugely popular TV show called :Trade Your Way to the USA' that returns to the youth channel CBBC on 23 April for a new series presented by Saira Khan.
In each episode, two teams go head to head competing in challenges to buy, sell and make money. The team that makes the most profit goes through to the next round, eventually ending up in an all-singing, all-dancing grand finale in the USA.
But, in a new development, the BBC has asked Young Enterprise business volunteers to take part in an associated roadshow that Saira will be taking on tour to 72 schools across Britain.
Our volunteers will be on hand in classrooms as Saira and a crack team of facilitators help primary age children take part in enterprise inspired workshops, gaining top tips and advice for making their business happen in school.

New Chief Executive is on a mission to defeat youth unemployment with Young Enterprise
Michael Mercieca has been appointed Chief Executive of Young Enterprise, the UK's leading enterprise education charity.
Michael is the former Director of Finance & Operations at The Prince's Trust, a post he took up in June 2003. He was responsible for Finance and Corporate Support Services, Programme Management and Design and operations in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
He started his career in manufacturing, working for companies such as GKN and Racal, switching to the media sector in the mid-eighties where he worked for BBC Worldwide, BSkyB and through his own company Media Gap, he advised companies such as Yellow Pages, NTL, Telewest, and The Co-operative Bank.

10 million pound Young Enterprise Loans scheme starts in May
A pilot for the government's new Young Enterprise Loans scheme will begin next month, Ministers have revealed.
Business and enterprise minister Mark Prisk confirmed the date during a debate in Parliament. The new scheme comes after Young Enterprise lobbied behind the scenes for cash support with a coalitiion of charities, business organisations and Sir Richard Branson.
