EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: My advice to young business stars - BBC Young Apprentice Finalist Harry Hitchens
Adam Priest — 13 Feb 2012
BBC Young Apprentice star Harry Hitchens has urged all school students to sign up for the 'fantastic' and 'unique' Young Enterprise.
The dynamic 17-year-old businessman offered his advice to the new generation of entrepreneurs as he took on Lord Sugar's role and acted as judge in the charity's bustling London trade fair.
But his key piece of wisdom for budding young entrepreneurs was that while the hands-on experience offered by Young Enterprise was vital, this should be balanced with qualifications - whether an apprenticeship or a degree - since 95% of high paying jobs required them.
Speaking amid a frantic atmosphere inside the historic Old Spitalfields Market he praised the 'sheer confidence' of students running 45 stalls and declared 'any kid' in Britain would benefit from the Young Enterprise experience.
Harry, a photographer and international trader, said big-name clients had hired him since his BBC stardom, such as global comedy stars Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, along with TV personality Fearne Cotton, and this had helped boost his business career.
