Volunteer
Put something back... Put yourself forward...
Start something inspiring
In order to grow our mission one of the key resources is the recruitment of volunteers to help deliver the programmes, and to join local boards/taskforces. The business volunteer provides students with a real business role model using the skills they have acquired throughout their working life.
Volunteering programmes that use and develop skills are an effective and inexpensive professional development tool. With the focus on learning and development a volunteer role can be a stretch assignment that develops leadership and client –service skills that benefit the employee at all levels and their company.
In acting as a volunteer business partner you can:
- enhance your personal and professional skills and knowledge
- gain satisfaction by investing time, skills and knowledge for the benefit of a new generation, shaping tomorrow's workforce
- extend your team working, communication and interpersonal skills
- gather evidence of competence which can contribute towards management or other vocational qualifications
- inspire and raise young people's aspirations.
“My team have supported a number of Young Enterprise days in local high schools. It has been great to work closely with the young people in these schools and our employees have found the experience enlightening and fulfilling. They always come back feeling enthused and proud that they have added something to their local communities.
On a more personal note having judged the Young Enterprise Company Programme for the last couple of years I feel I have grown as a person. The youngsters who take part in these competitions are a delight. One group were a group of youngsters with learning difficulties and they were an inspiration. They were all so passionate about what they had achieved and so excited to be at the competition. When they won an award it was as if they had won the lottery; the cheers and smiles were priceless. I left the event feeling incredibly happy. The whole experience was excellent and I would recommend it to anyone”
