Youngsters make money from their 'Mugs'

Anthony Brown — 04 Nov 2011

Young Enterprise is part of a consortia recently commissioned by the Skills Funding Agency to deliver a 12 week ESF funded employability skills programme to young people, aged 14 and above from across East Cheshire.

Working in partnership with Connexions, Princes Trust, Youth Federation, Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service, Education Business Plus and Cheshire East Local Authority, Young Enterprise’s Quick Start programme is contributing to supporting young people who are identified as at risk of/being NEET (not in employment, education or training) building their confidence, skills, knowledge and resilience in these challenging economic times.

The young people started a bespoke products service, targeting individual and business customers in the Macclesfield area, generating sales and making a small profit.

Macclesfield College kindly hosted the programme, providing an inspiring environment and additional support from the Marketing and Business Studies departments to help students develop their business and raise awareness of the progression opportunities for local young people at the college.
