As well as offering a learning experience for students, Young Enterprise programmes also bring learning benefits for the Volunteers who are encouraged to develop their own skills and knowledge alongside the students.

Young Enterprise Volunteers are welcomed from all walks of life, and do not necessarily have to work in business. Many Young Enterprise volunteers are retired business people or those nearing retirement.

• Through the Young Enterprise Programmes, Business Volunteers have the opportunity to develop and hone their own management skills in a real working environment; in particular communication, interpersonal and team working skills.
• Through the role of a Young Enterprise Volunteer, individuals develop self-confidence, dealing directly with committed people in sometimes challenging situations.
• Young Enterprise Volunteers increase their knowledge through taking a holistic view and seeing how a complete business operates, rather than a single function such as production or sales.
• Active involvement with Young Enterprise as a Programme Volunteer or Board Volunteer can contribute as structured and unstructured hours towards CPD/CPE qualification requirements of many professional bodies including ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW, ICSA, IE, Institute of Financial Services, Institute of Export, RICS.
• Young Enterprise provides its volunteers with access to training and the opportunity to put into practice newly acquired insights.
• Through Young Enterprise, volunteers have the opportunity to meet other similarly committed local business people and broaden their business skills in a real working environment.
