Young Enterprise is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults. Young Enterprise seeks to ensure that its Safeguarding policy complies with current legislation and statutory guidance for schools and colleges (Keeping Children Safe in Education issued September 2016). Staff and our volunteers must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post or nature of the programme the member of staff or volunteer is engaged on, including checks with past employers and an enhanced check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) which will include a requirement to join the DBS Update Service.
Young Enterprise is committed to operating to the highest standards of integrity, honesty and fair dealing. All Young Enterprise employees, volunteers, trustees, students and others associated with Young Enterprise are expected to maintain equivalent standards of behaviour and avoid actions that may adversely impact the interests or good standing of Young Enterprise.
The general principles underlying Young Enterprise’s commitment to operating to the highest standards of integrity, honesty and fair dealing are set out in this policy and include zero tolerance of bribery and corrupt practice.
The protection of personal privacy is an important concern of Young Enterprise. Young Enterprise is registered under the Data Protection Act 1988 (number Z6643877) and complies with its regulations. Young Enterprise undertakes to take all possible care to protect any personal data held whether on electronic media or on paper and this policy sets out data control measures.
Young Enterprise is committed to safeguarding the health, safety and welfare of all its employees while at work and to provide, so far as is reasonably practicable, working environments which are safe and without risks to health.
Young Enterprise recognises fully its responsibility to deal fairly, constructively and consistently with problems, whether raised by young people, volunteers or other adults on behalf of themselves or their children, or when raised by members of the public. It is good practice to have an established process for handling such problems. It is important to recognise that, whilst dealing with problems can be very resource intensive, they must nevertheless be thoroughly investigated and dealt with in order, not only to resolve the matter, but also thereby to contribute constructively to a process of continuous improvement within the organisation.
The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to provide volunteers with clear guidelines as to their standard of behaviour, responsibilities and best practice in fulfilling their role within Young Enterprise.
Trustees have a legal obligation to act in the best interests of Young Enterprise, and in accordance with Young Enterprise’s governing document and to avoid a situation where there may be a potential conflict of interest. The Senior Management Team, all staff and Volunteers have similar obligations.
