This year the Bechtel Foundation have kindly provided funding and support to help us deliver our programmes in primary schools in London, as well as our flagship Company Programme, where students are given the unique opportunity to set up and run their own company.

This has enabled us to help more young people from various areas and backgrounds to develop their skills and avoid the prospect of unemployment and its consequences.

The programmes consisted of a variety of practical hands on sessions, with the help of Bechtel employees volunteering their time in the classroom.

Bechtel employees are volunteering as Business Advisors, helping students in London  who are taking part in the  Company Programme.  So far 180 students in schools across London have been inspired to explore the world of business.

Brendan McGuigan, Mechanical Engineer and the Stewardship Lead at Bechtel’s Hammersmith office said: “Supporting educational programmes that enable sustainable development in the communities we work in is very important for us at Bechtel.

“Working with the students involved with Young Enterprise has been an amazing experience for us. Seeing their passion for learning made the team proud and we are looking forward to continued collaboration with Young Enterprise in contributing to the future of our community.”

Michael Mercieca, Young Enterprise CEO said: “Last year we worked with 250,000 young people and this year we are increasing that number.

“We could not work with so many young people without the commitment of our funders. Their investment in young people helps them develop the skills and tools they need for the world of work.”

Young Enterprise is the UK’s leading enterprise education charity and our mission remains and our plans for the years ahead will continue to have a lasting impact for the employability of the UK’s young people. Comment from Young Enterprise CEO, Michael Mercieca:

Young Enterprise would like to thank Bechtel Foundation once again for their valued support.
