In the afternoon of  the 28th of March seven Young Enterprise student companies came together at the BT Centre for the regional Young Entrepreneur Deutsche Bank London Final.

This was the first stage of the national Young Enterprise competition—a good opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the Young Entrepreneurs, who had taken part in the Young Enterprise Company Programme to set up and run their own businesses for a year with the help of dedicated business mentors.

After thoughtfully designing their stands and placing their products, our three curious judges—Mick Keay from BT, Tim Wainwright from RICS, Andrew Sellers from Hiscox and Young Enterprise alumnus Michael Andronicou —  asked the entrepreneurs about various aspects of their product,  from the environmental impact and the product’s unique selling point to the marketing efforts and their target market.

But that wasn’t all— every team also prepared a creative 60 second advert and had 3 minutes to pitch their company in the spotlight of the BT Auditorium, before the judges made their final decisions. It was impressive to see how much enthusiasm and effort the students invested—no presentation was like the other.

In the end the “Green Award” went to

The Green Cloud Company which creates handmade decorative vases, pencil plots and desk organizers from recycled materials. ‘A*mazing’ received the “Marketing Award” for their effort to inspire and motivate young people to live in the moment.

‘Rare’ secured the Special Recognition Award for their unique product—an exam pack which contains everything students need to successfully get through their exam time. The Innovation Award and Best Overall Company Award went to ‘Simmer’, whose product aims to help children enjoy cooking from all over the world in a family environment.

Simmer and Green Cloud Company (Runner up) went through to the National Final, which will take place on the 7th of March at Deutsche Bank.

My congratulations to all participating Young Entrepreneurs—everyone pitched their product with great dedication and enthusiasm!
