Budding entrepreneurs will go head to head at the University of East Anglia next week in the final of a young enterprise competition.

The university’s Norwich Business School will host the Young Enterprise Norfolk Area Final on March 20, which will see pupils from schools in the county compete to have their business named Company of the Year.

It is the first time the event has been hosted by UEA and comes in the year that both the university and Young Enterprise, the UK’s largest business education charity, celebrate their 50th anniversary.

The Young Enterprise companies, comprising between 10 and 20 Year 12 pupils, have been trading since October 2012. Start-up funds are raised by selling shares in the company and volunteers from local businesses support each company by acting as advisors. At the end of the process they are invited to compete in the area final, with the winner going on to represent Norfolk in the East of England final later this year. Read full story
