Enterprise invades The Orchards
Shoppers in Haywards Heath’s Orchards Shopping Centre were greeted with lots of extra shopping choice over the weekend when the entrepreneurs from Mid Sussex Young Enterprise hit town.
The young traders were offering a range of products including jewellery and fashion accessories, cards, phone cases, key rings and cookery books. Young Enterprise Companies are formed by students in Mid Sussex schools, each having to create a real business.
Students take on the roles of a typical management team; managing director, finance director, sales and marketing director and so on. Each company has to plan the business from scratch; what products will they sell, how will they source them, how will they market them and, most importantly, how to ensure the books balance and they make a profit. Local business leaders take part, too, acting as mentors to the aspiring companies.
Three companies from Warden Park Academy, Identity, Oddity, and Genuine, and two from Burgess Hill School for Girls, Vanity and The Bee Business took part. Read full story
