Boom Boom Bags: Young Enterprise Supports Local Charity
Skipton Girls’ Young Enterprise Team has linked up with local charity, Skipton Extended Learning For All (SELFA) located in Skipton, to produce a hand-designed canvas shopping bag to raise money for the organisation, which provides a range of activities for vulnerable, disadvantaged and disabled children.
Last month, the girls went down to Christ Church School on Craven Street in Skipton to watch the creative kids at work. The winning design, which the team hope to get a grant to produce into a bag, was a ‘Winnie the Pooh’ picture by one of the young girls. If successful in gaining funding, the bags will be put into production by the team and then sold by SELFA to allow them to gain all the profit.
The Skipton girls founded their Young Enterprise company, Boom Boom Bags, at the beginning of the academic year in order to take part in the nationwide competition. The team has been involved in a number of money making activities so far including, designing two limited edition bags and organising a sweet swap between the boys’ and girls’ grammar schools for Valentine’s Day.
