A message of support from the Lord Mayor of London
The Lord Mayor of London sent us a message of support:
“A good financial education is a critical foundation for every young person in Britain. For fifty years, Young Enterprise has helped improve the quality and standards of financial literacy across the UK – giving hundreds of thousands of young people the knowledge and confidence to lead better lives.
“Every single day, over 300 people are declared insolvent or bankrupt. Over a quarter of the UK population has no savings. 1 in 20 teenagers do not think they have to pay back credit card debt.
“Young Enterprise is an important and timely intervention – educating potential entrepreneurs in the art of money management. Money is a global commodity and a global commonality – the flow of finance binds Nations. Real banking is about managing risk to the benefit of real trade, real companies and people: financing projects that provide real benefits to countries and communities across the world – creating jobs, growth and prosperity.
“The City of London is the world’s pre-eminent financial centre due to its deep pools of capital and talent, and a rich cluster of professional services to accompany its financial services. Young Enterprise is a conduit for the UK’s talent pool – equipping future business leaders to build a strong, successful society.”
The Rt. Hon. The Lord Mayor, Alderman Roger Gifford
