£600 grant helps introduce world of work to Stortford pupils

Hillmead Primary School in Bishop’s Stortford joins scheme thanks to funding granted by Herts County Councillor Colin Woodward.

AN educational charity will be able to deliver two teaching modules at Hillmead Primary School in Bishop’s Stortford, thanks to funding granted by Herts County Councillor Colin Woodward,.

The town’s west ward member, pictured, has allocated £600 from the locality budget to Young Enterprise, a charity that teaches young students the importance of making a contribution in their community and increases understanding of the world of work.

The programme will benefit 60 children through the development of skills in team working, communication and decision making. It will also help the children to understand how and why we work together.

Cllr Woodward said: “This Young Enterprise project will make effective use of public funds in developing the skills, attitude and teamwork of the next generation supported by and applying the long experience of Young Enterprise and engaging volunteers in sharing their knowledge and guiding the students. I am pleased to be able to assist in bringing the best aspects of enterprise as exemplified by Young Enterprise to Bishop’s Stortford.”

A total or £10,000 is available to each of the 77 members of Hertfordshire County Council to spend on worthwhile community projects in their area.

Locality budgets were launched in July 2009, with funding to be used for worthy social, economic or environmental causes in Hertfordshire. For information on how to apply for funding under the scheme, visit
