Mentoring’s a speedy business at Liverpool John Moores University
Businesses including Deloitte and DWP took part in the North West’s first speed mentoring session of the year on October 16th at Liverpool John Moores University.
Over twenty business mentors from a variety of small and large businesses such as DWF Law Firm and Plexus Cotton provided business advice to over 70 students.
Each group had ten minutes with each business organisation before moving around to gain further practical advice. This style of session is used throughout the year to ensure that students working on the Start Up Programme are able to quickly network with local businesses and organisations, building up their contacts.
Janet Farrow, Module Leader at Liverpool Business School said: “All students have fully enjoyed the session, and take so much from working intensely and under strict time constraints with our business mentors’’.
This speed mentoring approach allows mentors to quickly build relationships with all groups with the opportunity to work more closely with a smaller number that fit their interest and experience further into the year.
