Enterprising youngsters from schools around Mansfield got down to business last week with the chance to sell sell their own handmade products to Christmas shoppers in the town.

Students from Garibaldi College, Manor Academy and the Brunts Academy took over market stalls as part of their Young Enterprise project, selling to the public and learning how to start their own business.

Neil Holbrook, teacher from Garibaldi College, said ‘Our students have really bought into the Young Enterprise scheme – they started last year and are even going to car boot sales on the weekends to sell their products. It’s boosted their confidence and they are learning valuable skills.’

Berni Dickinson, Director of the Mansfield Learning Partnership, organised the event. She said, ‘The Mansfield Learning Partnership is all about giving opportunities to local young people in the local community and this is the perfect way to achieve our aspiration. It’s great to see young people learning and having a fantastic time.’
