Huntingdonshire’s business brains of tomorrow scoop awards at Young Enterprise competition
Team offers a man-shaped cutter with the gingerbread recipe
Tapping into the nation’s rediscovered love of baking helped Sawtry Community College’s young business minds land two awards at this year’s Huntingdonshire Young Enterprise competition.
The students’ company – Make Your Own – was selling its all-in-one baking jars at the Young Enterprise Christmas market in Huntingdon on Saturday. Each beautifully presented jar contains the ingredients for a recipe along with, for instance, a man-shaped cutter with the gingerbread recipe. The idea – and its execution – landed the youngsters both the best innovation and best marketing awards. Look out for the firm’s website early next year.
Kimbolton School won best product for its iPhone cases that change colour with heat – the case doubles as a safety tool as it lets the owner know if the battery is getting overheated – while St Peter’s School in Huntingdon grabbed best customer service having sold out of its bowls, which had been fashioned out of vinyl LPs.
The best trade stand was won by the Peterborough School, which was also selling phone cases along with notice boards and picture frames.
