Youthful entrepreneurs sell out in Harpenden!
The rain stayed away and the customers turned to support youthful entrepreneurs at the Young Enterprise Trade Fair in Harpenden on the 24th November 2013.
Over 100 students from schools in St Albans and Harpenden who are running their own real companies for a year as part of the Young Enterprise Company programme set up stalls as part of the town Christmas Carnival.
From behind notices that showed their company and school names they enthusiastically sold their products to many interested customers.
Independent judges presented awards in several categories. Illusion Enterprise from St Columba’s College won Best Overall Company whilst two awards also went to St Albans High School for Girls (Best Product and Best Customer Service ) and one to St Albans Girls School (Best Trade Stand).
Jane Needham Young Enterprise Manager for St Albans and Harpenden said: “Thanks to everyone for their support in making the day a success especially to Chris Canfield and the rest of the St Albans and Harpenden YE Board who volunteer so much of their time to make the Company Programme such a success.
“The event exceeded the expectations of the organiser, our judges, and the Young Enterprise volunteers. The level of professionalism, innovation and enthusiasm among our students was outstanding.”
Jane added: “Young Enterprise is totally reliant upon voluntary support of its work, so if you have some organisational skills and have an hour or two spare each week during term-time, we would love you to join our team of advisers to develop future generations of budding entrepreneurs!”
Taking part in the Harpenden Trade Fair this year were Sir John Lawes School, Sandringham School, St Albans Girls School, St Albans High School for Girls, Loreto College, Samuel Ryder Academy and St Columba’s College.
