Brilliant alumna Shruti Barton wins Entrepreneur of the Year
Kingston University Young Enterprise star bags top prize at the national PEA Awards 2013
MA Creative Economy graduate from Kingston University, Shruti Barton has been developing her eco flower carrier product range “Pozzy” since her student Young Enterprise company was founded in November 2012.
Easthetic won a number of Young Enterprise awards throughout 2013, including Best Trade Stand and Best Company by the YE judges.
“Young Enterprise’s focus on ‘learning by doing’ certainly helped me to develop my entrepreneurial skills during my Masters degree.
“Winning the Young Enterprise awards during the course gave me the confidence to develop the range further after graduating and pitch my product to not only florists, retailers and buyers, but also those at the senior level who are working to promote sustainability and eco-friendly living.”
In November 2013, Shruti was shortlisted for two categories at the PEA Awards 2013, which recognises individuals whose work supports the green agenda; Arts, Fashion and Music and Entrepreneur of the Year.
“I was delighted to win Entrepreneur of the Year as it affirms the fact that high profile judges such as celebrity Jo Wood, Rebecca Hill (Marketing Director of National Geographic Magazine) and Jarvis Smith (Editor of GREEN Magazine) all see the potential in not only my business but also the product.
“Now it’s about taking it to the mass market and encouraging flower shoppers everywhere to buy more flowers, more responsibly. I’m looking forward to seeing more and more cut flower shoppers use Pozzy to carry their flowers in 2014!”
