Entrepreneurs of the future test out their ideas on the general public at West Quay Shopping Centre
Company Programme students from five companies set up shop at the West Quay Shopping Centre Trade Fair on the 25th January to trade their products and services with Saturday shoppers.
The teenagers from Barton Peveril Sixth Form College (Eastleigh), Churchers (Petersfield), Fareham Academy and Henry Beaufort (Winchester) were also able to learn a thing or two from the professionals. Alison Evans and Lisa Riley from John Lewis gave some hints and tips to the groups about how to merchandise their wares.
They also judged the Best Trade Stand Award. This was won by the Barton Peverell company (pictured), called CRE8, who had produced and nearly sold out of tie dye T-shirts.
“I was really impressed with all of their enthusiasm, creativity and determination,” said Alison. “And they all had their own strengths. Some had a really good grasp of their cost structures; some had presented their products really well; others were very focused on getting feedback from their customers. Most of all, they were all keen to learn from the experience.”
