‘Tiers of Joy’ at St Dominic’s Priory
Team sells contemporary and traditional cake stands, which are manufactured from recycled pottery
Sixth Formers from St Dominic’s Priory School, Stone, have created their own company, ‘Tiers of Joy’, as part of the Young Enterprise Programme. Young Enterprise is an enterprise education charity which is aimed at ages 15-19 and runs over the academic year. The aim is to raise share capital and create, sell and market products to generate profits.
‘Tiers of Joy’ sells contemporary and traditional cake stands, which are manufactured from recycled pottery, making them environmentally friendly pieces. The Managing Director is Eve Phillips who is joined by Hannah Sutherland – Company Secretary, Evangeline Andrews – Finance Director, Katie Swift/Emily Kidner – Marketing Directors, Hannah Lilburne – Sales Director, Hollie Stow – Operations Director, Suzy Francis – IT Director, Ellen Matthews – Human Resources Director
Eve Phillips added … “It’s all about Teamwork, communication and most importantly, enjoyment! One of the most valuable lessons we have learnt is the importance of teamwork. We all contribute to the creation of the cake stands as well as the administrative side of running the business.
Due to the volume of orders we have received, we have found it a challenge to keep up with the production of our product, but through organisation and team work, we have been able to honour all the orders to date.
We are on track to beat the sales target we set in our original business plan, as we have made nearly £500 profit so far and we are only half way through the programme.
