Young Enterprise Company Programme Southside Trade Fair Saturday 5th March 2016, 9.00am – 2.30pm
Budding young entrepreneurs from Wandsworth, Lambeth and Southwark will be putting their business heads on to compete in the South London Trade Fair of the Young Enterprise Company Programme, supported by HSBC, at Southside Shopping Centre on Sunday 5th March.
11 teams from 7 schools from Wandsworth, Lambeth and Southwark will be vying to take home the top prize of ‘Best Company’ after taking on the challenge of setting up and running their own businesses for a year with the help of local business mentors on the Company Programme.
Michael Mercieca, Young Enterprise Chief Executive said:
“These students have been working incredibly hard all year and at the Trade Fair they’ll be demonstrating their products and services that they’ve produced or sourced on the Programme, and showcasing the skills they’ve developed along the way.
“Setting up and running their own companies while in school gives young people valuable real-life experience and enables them to develop key skills that will help them in work and in life.
“We’ve seen some great businesses set up by young people in Wandsworh, Lambeth and Southwark this year and I wish all the students the best of luck.”
Products created and sold by South London Young Enterprise companies this year include drinking water infusers, personalised rubix cubes and collapsible lunch boxes.
Madeleine McCue Hodge, Young Enterprise Manager for Wandsworth, Lambeth, Southwark said: “Young Enterprise couldn’t exist without the vital support from our local business volunteers and I’d like to thank them all for their hard work this year as well as the judges who have kindly offered their time to award prizes on the day.”
Judging the start-up enterprises on Sunday will be Cllr Nicola Nardelli, Mayor of Wandsworth, Aiste Kuodyte from GE Capital and Kristina Vaznelyte from Aksada, a pharmaceutical research start-up.
