Company shows support for Corby’s young entrepreneurs

The student teams turned out at trade fair events to promote and sell their products to RS employees

The event marked 13 years support from RS for the scheme and this time pupils from Brooke Weston Academy, Corby Business Academy and The Kingswood School took part.

The student teams turned out at trade fair event to promote and sell their products to RS employees, enticing them with items such as personalised bracelets from entrepreneurs Naked No More to heart-shaped chalk boards and candles from established, award-winning team Happy Hands.

As well as financial support, the young entrepreneurs were able to access business advice from employees of RS.

Shaun Coleman, inventory team manager at RS Components and business adviser to Signature, a company selling personalised face flannels packaged with bath bombs or chocolates, said: “Helping the students develop a business from scratch has been a rewarding experience. They have to learn every aspect of running a real company, from meeting and dealing with suppliers to having company shares.”

The Frank Maguire Shield for the business demonstrating the best sales and marketing approach Reflection from The Kingswood School for its Your Story baby journal, a diary capturing a child’s milestones.

The Bernie Howell trophy for the best display stand was awarded to Corby Business Academy company Signature.

Paul Quested, global strategy director at RS Components, presented the awards.
