Dinner raised £3,000 for Young Enterprise
THE president of West Yorkshire Society of Chartered Accountants is concluding her year in office on a high.
Wilma Teviotdale, who is head of accountancy at Huddersfield University, hosted the society’s annual dinner in Leeds – and was delighted that the event raised more than £3,000 for Young Enterprise, an organisation which offers schoolchildren a chance to get a taste for business.
Said Wilma: “’UK plc has a real need for the next generation to understand business basics and want to be involved and YE does a fantastic job to bridge the gap between school and ‘real life’.
“The YE experience also encourages and develops many wider skills – such as team-working, communication skills, self-confidence and initiative, time-management, social skills and much more.”
Mark Spofforth, national president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, was the main speaker at the dinner, which was held at the Queens Hotel in Leeds.
