Enterprising Cumbrian students box clever

Maryport’s Netherhall School has won the Young Enterprise West Cumbrian finals for the sixth time.

The school won four out of the six prizes, coming top overall and winning awards for innovation and enterprise.

Managing director Laura Jackson, 17, of Dearham, also took the student of the year award.

The team, guided by Young Enterprise link teacher Janet Carter and business adviser David Davidson, said the greatest difficulty had been coming up with a product.

Laura said: “We were going through every option. Then one day, looking around our sixth form, we realised we kept everything in boxes.”

From that, Treasured Memories was born.
