Liverpool John Moores students win national final of Young Enterprise Start Up Awards supported by Santander

The Teabox Company, an online tea business selling high-quality, loose-leaf tea, pitched against nine other student companies from across the UK at the Canary Wharf in London. They were awarded ‘Best Overall Start Up Company’ and ‘Best Display Stand’ and will now go on to represent the UK at the European finals in Liège, Belgium in July.

Phil Perera from the Teabox Company said:

“The national final was an amazing experience. The whole day was intense and full of excitement and required a team effort from every member of our company. Everybody stayed cool under the pressure of the interviews and presentation and we are very proud to have the honour to represent LJMU and the UK at the European final.”

Andy Firr, Young Enterprise Manager for Merseyside, commented:

“I have been working with The Teabox Company since September 2012. They are a brilliant group of talented, committed and vibrant students. This result is absolutely deserved and I have full confidence that the business will go from strength to strength over the coming years. They have been a pleasure to work with and are a credit to the Young Enterprise programme, LJMU and themselves. I wish them every luck at the European Final in Liège.”
