More Young Enterprise success for Sutton Grammar
Sutton Grammar School once again produced the winners of the Best Overall Company award in this year’s Sutton and Merton Area’s Young Enterprise Awards Evening.
Altitude – a team who have produced a technology-driven wristband for leisure use they call a Grip – scooped the award in the face of fierce competition from six other young teams – three from Merton and three from Sutton.
One of the judges, David Barber of the Royal Bank of Scotland, Sutton, confirmed that the overall level of achievement was extremely high: ‘We had real difficulty in reaching unanimity, such was the high standard of all the teams who reached the final this year,’ he said, ‘though we all agreed we had rewarded true vision and innovation.’
Through the current academic year companies, comprising students aged 15-19 years old, from schools across both boroughs have been developing a product or service and selling and marketing it to test its viability, as a priceless exercise in entrepreneurship prior to entering the real World of Work.
