Poole Harbour Commissioners helps launch Young Enterprise programme
Poole Harbour Commissioners is delighted to confirm a partnership with the national education charity, Young Enterprise, to launch this year’s ‘Employability, Empowerment and Enterprise’ programme.
PHC was the host venue for the Young Enterprise launch event and welcomed more than 80 pupils and local businesses to the Port.
Students from Poole High and Corfe Hills sixth form gained an insight in the world of work and met with individual business advisors from Princecroft Willis, Barclays, Adido, Aspire 2B Free, 3PB Barristers and U Need Us!
Following the group mentoring sessions, students had the opportunity to discover the Port and to find out more about PHC as an organisation and what their role as guardians of Poole Harbour entitles.
Poole Harbour Commissioners’ safety and security manager, Dave Laut, said: “Poole Harbour Commissioners is committed to supporting the programmes run by the Young Enterprise. It’s a fantastic organisation that helps children benefit in their future employment, it’s these initiatives that enhance their communication, team work, planning and leadership skills.
“It was great to share my experience with the students and see their enthusiasm in the Port and the harbour. These schemes are vital in helping build young people’s confidence and help promote further education.”
