Record numbers enter Cornwall Young Enterprise challenge

A RECORD number of budding entrepreneurs entered the county’s Young Enterprise  scheme this year.

Twenty-four school groups, made up of 15 to 19-year-olds, showed off their business ideas at the spring trade show at Sainsbury’s supermarket in Truro.

The high number of entrants gave the event a “fantastic, competitive atmosphere”, according to Katie Vage, who manages the Cornwall branch of Young Enterprise, a UK-wide education enterprise charity.

The Comic-Corn team, from Richard Lander School, won the award for Best Trade Stand with its comic strip characters based on fruit and vegetables.

Managing director, Jordan Curnow, aged 15, said: “We are really happy to have won Best Trade Stand on Saturday, and we are looking forward to the next round of the competition when Comic-Corn will be even bigger and better.”
