Rotherham’s New York stadium to host ceremony for young entrepreneurs
AN AWARDS ceremony to celebrate the business acumen of schoolchildren in South Yorkshire will be held at Rotherham’s New York Stadium next week.
The annual awards ceremony, which marks the culmination of the Young Enterprise Programme for the academic year, will showcase the range of businesses set up and managed by South Yorkshire students.
It takes place at the stadium, Rotherham United’s new home ground, on Thursday, May 9.
This year is the fiftieth anniversary of Young Enterprise in the UK.
Meryl White, cookery writer and chairman of the South Yorkshire Young Enterprise Board, said yesterday: “We are really looking forward to meeting all of the students who have taken part in this year’s programme and finding out more about their businesses.
“The range of awards covers everything from excellence in innovation and enterprise to customer focus, social, ethical and environmental.
“Each year we are amazed by the standard of businesses set up and managed by these groups of young people.
“The students are so impressive and it’s great to see them stand up in front of more than 100 people and give presentations about their business.”
