Setting sail with Young Enterprise
On Saturday, April 20, seven of the Isle of Wight’s Young Enterprise teams hosted a floating trade fair aboard Wightlink’s flagship St Clare.
Each team, made up of students from Island schools, has spent the last year forming and running their own company, and the range of products on offer included hand-made garden ornaments, chalkboard construction kits and Isle of Wight inspired recipe books.
The fair ran from 10am-3pm, with passengers able to speak to the students about their Young Enterprise projects and buy their products.
Disc-Co, a company from the Isle of Wight College’s Sixth Form, received a lot of interest in their bowls crafted from vinyl records.
Rosie Monger, Managing Director for Disc-Co, said: “It’s been a good experience and now we’re looking forward to the presentation at the end of it.”
Avidia, from the Island Innovation VI Form Campus, have already seen their LINK snap bracelets go as far afield as Brighton and are hoping to see them take off country-wide.
