Skipton Girls’ High School takes part in Young Enterprise challenge

A team from Skipton Girls’ High School is drawing up battle lines in readiness for another year of Apprentice-style competition.

The school is taking part in a competition organised by Young Enterprise, which recently marked 50 years of helping to introduce students to the cut and thrust of the business world.

This year, the Skipton students will be taking on pupils from Ampleforth College, Queen Ethelburga’s at Harrogate and York’s St Peter’s as well as Ryedale School from Nawton, Harrogate Grammar, Harrogate High, the town’s St Aidan’s School and Ripon Grammar.
Each will be invited to a special evening, hosted by Science City York later this month, which includes a night of training by industry experts. The teams will then decide the product they will take to market, how they are going to make or acquire it, their route to market and the roles each team member will play.

They will also be offered the opportunity to take part in a number of trade fairs where their sales performance and presentation will be assessed by professionals and the best will take part in the North Yorkshire finals in May, where the honour of representing the region against the rest of the UK will be at stake.
