Citi
Financial services giant is a major backer of Young Enterprise in the UK
The Citi Foundation is supporting Young Enterprise as part of its commitment to enhancing economic opportunities for individuals and families, particularly those in need, in the communities where we work so that they can improve their standard of living.
We fulfill this mission by providing grant support for programs that are aligned with our economic empowerment mission, promote collaboration and effective use of philanthropic resources, engage our employees, and demonstrate impact and positive outcomes. We are particularly interested in supporting program innovations in our priority focus areas:
Microfinance and Microentrepreneurship to help people, especially women, improve the lives of their families
Small and Growing Businesses at the next stage of development that create employment and support economic growth
Education with a focus on increasing the supply of high quality basic education in local Citi markets internationally, and in the U.S. increasing young people’s access to college.
In 2004, we pledged to invest $200 million over 10 years and since then we have for example, linked up with Junior Achievement-Young Enterprise (JA-YE), a charity which delivers enterprise and personal economics education, we now partner with JA-YE in over 46 countries, granting the charity $4.7 million and in 2006 we reached an amazing 400,000 students.
