Work with us today to transform life chances tomorrow
Who we are and what we do
Young Enterprise is the UK’s leading charity that empowers young people to harness their personal and business skills. We offer a rich and vibrant local delivery network with a wealth of knowledge and experience coupled with a National and European reach. We engage with innovative new approaches and policy initiatives to help solve some of the most pressing social issues in the UK today; namely high levels of youth unemployment and a lack of financial capability in our young people.
We specialise in delivering financial capability, employability and entrepreneurship skills to young people aged 4-24, utilising an unrivalled network of business sector volunteers and financial education specialists.
How we monitor, measure and evaluate impact
Independent research shows our activities are some of the most effective and impactful currently available and we are investing heavily to ensure that our evaluation and impact assessment has the scope and depth necessarily to best guide us moving forward, an example of this is looking at SROI modelling.
Some recent reports about our approach and work are available on our research and evaluation page.
Young Enterprise is an experienced and accomplished delivery partner for grant funders. We work with many that are looking to make a difference by transforming the life chances of young people in some of the most deprived wards and challenging circumstances faced by young people in the UK today. This is a core component of our Access for All strategy.
Examples of recent work with lottery and trust funders
- Big Lottery Fund
We secured 3 years of Lottery Funding in 2014 for our ‘Be Enterprising, Be Successful’ project which will create a life changing journey for young people from disadvantaged areas. Through a long-term programme of enterprise activities, led by inspirational volunteers from the business world, we are raising young people’s aspirations and developing their employability skills, leading them to improved progression towards employment, education and training. We are working directly with 2,250 young people on this project.
- The Queen’s Trust
In June 2014, The Queen’s Trust awarded Young Enterprise £125,000 to expand our enterprise education programmes in schools in Wales, Yorkshire and The Humber, and Northern Ireland. This builds on an earlier grant of £30,000 in 2013 which enabled Young Enterprise to work with 217 young people across 11 schools in the South Wales Valleys to develop their confidence and employability skills.
Nicola Brentnall, Director at The Queen’s Trust said, “Young Enterprise’s Company Programme provides young people with the skills and experience they need to succeed – at school, at work and in life. We look forward to hearing news of the new companies as they are formed and begin to trade over the course of the next year.”
