Teenage trading success in Hitchin

On Saturday December 5th, 11 enterprising school student teams set up in Hitchin’s market square to compete for custom and showcase their achievements and business skills as young budding entrepreneurs.

Representing schools from Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire the students have been developing a variety of products and services during this academic year in the Young Enterprise ‘Company Programme’ and ‘Team Programme’.

Cllr. Ray Shakespear-Smith, Mr Keith Hoskins of Hitchin Initiative and Ms. Stephanie Hensman of local company, Willmott Dixon were the judges of the mini competition for the day.

Winners:

Best Customer Service  – Teen Gener8 from Lonsdale school, Stevenage

Most Innovative Product – Ataraxie  from Watford Grammar School for Boys (their product is now being sold by Humanitas, Hitchin)

Best Trade Stand – Unbranded from The Priory school, Hitchin

Environmental Awareness – Apex from Watford Grammar School for Boys

Best Company – Apex from Watford Grammar School for Boys
