What A Mug crowned Best Overall Company at North West Final

Students from Wilmslow High school were crowned the North West’s Best Company, and represented the area at the Young Enterprise Company Programme UK Final in July, supported by HSBC.

The students’ company, What A Mug, designed and sold hundreds of their unique mugs, designed for the customer to write their tea and coffee preference on, making the ‘brew run’ in the office much easier!  The team beat off stiff competition from seven other teams to be the overall winners.

Sophie Davis,  Managing Director,  said: “My team and I were overjoyed  to discover that our Young Enterprise journey will continue at the national finals. On a personal level, I am absolutely honoured to have been presented with the Leadership award it is such a rewarding feeling knowing all our hard work over the past few months has finally paid off. Young Enterprise has taught me to never give up and keep pushing both yourself and others to meet deadlines. After being announced as ‘Runners Up’ at the Cheshire & Warrington final it was essential that as a team we strive to ensure we could perform at our very best. What took at lot of hard work paid off as even though competition was exceptionally tough this year with some great teams we are proud to say that we will be going to London to represent the North West.”

Young Enterprise’s Company Programme is supported by HSBC and is aimed at 15 to 19 year olds, and enables them to set up and run businesses for an academic year, guided by local mentors.

Suzanne Lockwood, Area Manager said: “We had some great companies started up by students in the North West this year and the judges were incredibly impressed with the products and services they had developed and the presentations they gave at the Awards, kindly hosted by Barclays Technology Centre, Radbroke.
