Young entrepreneurs will compete to sell most wares at Guildhall fair

shortsYoung entrepreneurs from schools across Devon and Somerset will descend upon Exeter’s Guildhall Shopping Centre on Saturday, when they will compete to see whose business attracts most shoppers.

Teams will each set up a stall in a Young Enterprise Trade Fair competition, which will be part of the Exeter Innovations Market being held at the shopping centre.

The Young Enterprise teams, which will also be bidding to impress a panel of judges made up of local retail bosses, are:

Exeter School, who will be marketing a Top Trumps-style card game based on tourist attractions in Devon.

Trinity School, Teignmouth, with a range of T shirts and bags.

Taunton School, retailing customised wooden iPhone covers

King Alfred School from Burnham-on-Sea, selling a clothing range.

The Maynard School, Exeter, with cookery cards for children.

The winning team will receive a trophy and a free stall at a future Innovations Market.

Last year’s winners from Exeter School created a range of bags and tablet covers from ‘upcycled’ jeans.

Andrew McNeilly, centre manager at the Guildhall Shopping Centre, said: “We are delighted to welcome Young Enterprise back for another Trade Fair. The quality of the teams and their products, and their enthusiasm for their projects, never ceases to amaze us and looking at the companies lined up for this year, I do not think that we, or our customers, will be disappointed.”
