Young Enterprise arranges mock interviews for academy students

Thirty students aged between 13 and 14 were interviewed for 15 minutes by the five volunteers.

mockA team of volunteers from local businesses provided students from Bournemouth’s Bishop of Winchester Academy the opportunity to experience mock job interviews thanks to the Young Enterprise programme.

Thirty students aged between 13 and 14 were interviewed for 15 minutes by the 5 volunteers having previously made calls to arrange their interview and prepared a CV.

Edward Foster, Head of Year 9 at the Academy, thanked the Young Enterprise Manager Chris Lincoln and the team for interviewing the students, and assessing their performance from the handshake until leaving the interview room.

“The programme that the volunteers support helps prepare young people for careers in a wide demographic of businesses,” said Edward Foster. “We all know that first impressions in an interview are crucial. Many of the students may soon wish to apply for part time work and we expect that they will have an advantage over other applicants in a real interview situation as they now know what to expect.”

The Young Enterprise Programme is one of many initiatives included in the Academy’s preparations for students who will need to compete for jobs against people from other educational establishments including colleges and universities.
