Young entrepreneurs flying flag for county
A team of budding entrepreneurs from Kettering’s Southfield School will be flying the flag for the town when they appear in the regional finals of a Young Enterprise competition next month.
The group of 13 girls from the school’s sixth form created their own company selling personalised mugs, egg cups and all manner of other items for the competition, which is open to schools from across the country.
The team, who called their company mugSHOT, impressed judges at the county finals in late April with their professional presentation, and as a result they will be representing both Kettering and the county when they travel to the Jubilee Campus at Nottingham University on June 18 for the regional finals.
If the girls impress the judges again, they will progress to the national final which is being held in London in July.
Yujia Li, mugSHOT’s assistant managing director, said: “Our company has the aim of bringing a smile to people’s faces and to do this we produce mugs with different mouth expressions on the rim of the mug, including moustaches, smiles and pouty lips.
“We then fill these mugs with a variety of different products or accessories to suit the graphic, season or gender.”
