Youngsters show real Enterprise

SIR Alan Sugar’s Young Apprentice showed how many brilliant young whiz-kids there are in schools today.

But an event closer to home revealed that when it comes to business prodigies, North Lincolnshire is up there with the best.

Students from Brigg’s Sir John Nelthorpe Sixth Form were given the chance to set up and run their own business for a year, called 1nitiative, as part of The Young Enterprise Company programme.

The youngsters came up with the idea of selling coasters with modern prints and designs, as they felt there was a gap in the market.

They have already sold their products to two businesses in the area and have others interested.

The 2013 Annual Celebration and Awards Evening, which took place at The Baths Hall in Scunthorpe on Friday, saw 1nitiative compete against five other schools and colleges. A total of 17 firms took part.
