Designed for students aged 14-16, but suitable for all secondary-aged students, My Money Week provides students with the opportunity to explore their own attitudes to money and gain a few key financial skills to help them in the real world.

My Money Week 2025 took place from 9-13 June and was themed around the concept of ‘making the most of your money’. Resources challenged young people to become detectives, consider how to build a budget and included activities on value for money, inflation, and spending power.

So far this year we have seen more than 500 new registrations for the Week, reaching over 131,000 young people across the UK, with many schools engaging with the programmes after the Week.

As well as hoping to help educators with high quality resources for their students, we also engaged parliamentarians and conducted some PR work to reach new audiences.

We hosted two events in Parliament. The first was a roundtable discussion, with Members of the House of Lords, six of whom spoke about financial education the following day in the debating chamber. The second was a Drop In event, with good representation of 20 MPs from across the three major parties, along with ten primary-aged students to help bring financial education to life. Conversations started at the event have enabled MPs to learn more about how they can champion financial education programmes locally and drive financial education up the agenda across government.

We have had very positive feedback from Members of the Financial Education Forum about the event kicking off My Money Week, with high-profile speakers including from the Bank of England, the Social Mobility Commission and Jerome Mayhew MP. The Youth Debate was a particular highlight, as many saw the huge value added by having young people speaking on issues relevant to them in the room, something which would not have been possible without HSBC UK’s support.

We commissioned data specifically to drive our press campaign, and it was encouraging to see the research data picked up by 58 titles, including high-profile consumer titles including Mail Online and Fortune, reaching a broad audience, including parents.

All of these initiatives have contributed to My Money Week being the leading campaign and activity week for financial education for children and young people with political stakeholders and the general public.
