MyBnk

MyBnk is a leading specialist financial education charity that delivers expert-led money programmes to 5-25-year olds in UK schools and youth organisations – directly, virtually and online. Together with young people, we have created innovative, high impact and high energy workshops that bring money to life.

MyBnk cover topics such as saving, budgeting, debt, independent living and public and student finance. They also design projects and training programmes for others. Since 2007 we have helped almost 315,000 young people learn how to manage their money. Two thirds of our work is now with young adults in challenging circumstances, such as those leaving the UK care system, focusing on ‘survival’ money skills for independent living.

Here’s some of our latest work across the UK:

  • In March, we welcomed new CEO Leon Ward and published our 2022 annual report. Leon brings a wealth of leadership experience from both various non-executive and directors’ roles across the third sector, most recently at Future First. With a background in charity governance, innovation and programme design, Leon has more than ten years’ experience as a change maker and is a champion of social justice and positive youth movements across the UK. One of his many career highlights includes creating the Young Trustee Guide in partnership with CAF. He currently sits on board committees of Refuge and The Children’s Society and is the former Deputy Chair of Brook. Leon joins at an exciting time as MyBnk expands and innovates. We wish our former CEO Guy Rigden the best of luck with his next steps and are thankful for everything he has done for MyBnk and young people during his time as CEO.

  • MyBnk took part in Global Money Week 2023. We joined 176 countries and over 50 million young people supporting the global awareness campaign, which runs from 20-26 March. The campaign emphasises the importance of young people being financially aware and capable, acquiring the skills to be able to manage their money effectively. Throughout the week, our team of expert trainers are delivering financial education sessions to approximately 1,600 young people across the UK, from Scotland to the South Coast, supported by funders including Compare the Market, abrdn and The Quilter Foundation. We also created some new free resources for primary and secondary age which are available on our website. These can be used by parents or teachers.
  • We just completed our first two pilot deliveries in Northern Ireland. We partnered with regional charity Include Youth to deliver two of our survival money management programmes to young adults leaving care in Belfast and Derry.
  • We’re currently working on a new white paper in collaboration with Compare the Market. This will look at financial education in UK secondary schools and will launch at a small event in parliament on 10th May.
