National Money Assembly with Martin Lewis CBE

Young Enterprise launches first-ever National Money Assembly with Martin Lewis CBE

“Do you think money makes people happy?”
“Is it worth saving for a house from a young age?”
“How do you choose the best bank?”

These were just some of the powerful, thought-provoking questions posed to Martin Lewis CBE (MoneySavingExpert.com) by young people from across the UK during Young Enterprise’s first-ever National Money Assembly—a landmark moment for Young Enterprise and financial education.

Hosted live during #MyMoneyWeek, the Assembly brought together 350 students in person at St Charles Catholic Sixth Form College in London alongside around 300 schools tuning in from across the country, from Glasgow to Cornwall.

Kicking off the event, Martin Lewis immediately had the room buzzing. Through an interactive game, students were encouraged to rethink their spending habits and test their ability to spot scams—demonstrating just how engaging and practical financial education can be.

A dynamic Q&A session followed. From saving and borrowing to pensions and investing, to the cost of further education and making informed financial decisions, no topic was off limits. Alongside Young Enterprise CEO Sarah Porretta, Martin tackled each question with his trademark honesty, clarity and enthusiasm – which really hit the spot with the young people.

Too often, it is underestimated how interested young people are in money and financial decision-making. The event demonstrated that young people were not only engaged—they were eager to learn, challenge their assumptions and build skills that will shape their futures.

The National Money Assembly showcased the importance of creating spaces where young people can ask honest questions, hear relevant insights, and develop confidence in managing money.

We can’t think of a more inspiring start to My Money Week, the UK’s national campaign dedicated to improving financial education for young people.

Throughout the week, Young Enterprise is celebrating the impact that high-quality financial education can have—and continuing to champion the belief that every young person deserves access to it.
