The 2020 winner for Best Company of the Year, supported by HSBC UK, are students from King Edward VI School in the West Midlands. Their company, EnviroTent, offers a solution to the growing plastic waste resulting from tents left behind at festivals and will now go on to represent the UK at the virtual European final on 23rd and 24th July.

Tayla Evans, MD of EnviroTent said: “It feels incredible to have achieved these awards in such a competitive field as we were up against so many amazing companies, but I feel our green and sustainable product really gave us the edge. The Company Programme has been a remarkable and unforgettable experience, giving us so much insight into the business world and teaching us a range of valuable skills that will help us in the future. Young enterprise has given us the confidence and knowledge to pursue a future of entrepreneurship which we’re passionate about, and the contacts and knowledge we’ve gained will support us so much in this!”

We welcomed back YE Alumni and previous Journey Award Winner –  Nahyan Islam to present this year’s Journey Award.

When he started the Company Programme he was shy and lacking in confidence but Nahyan went on to lead his team to the national competition. He is now one of the fiercest advocates of the programme as he says that it really gave him the ambition to succeed. You may have seen Nahyan starring in Young Enterprise’s film – No Time Like the Future.

School Name: Wellingborough School

Empneo created a book to talk about the ‘superheroes of our generation’; this was based on the increasing impact young people are having on important global issues and will hopefully inspire others. The book was written and illustrated by members of the team.

A card based game that helps those with dementia to reminisce and reconnect with others through the stimulation of long term memory. The game can be played by both carers and family members in order to help maintain relationships within families, and reduce the isolation that comes with dementia. Our main goal has been to help people with dementia reconnect with those around them, encourage young people to become more aware of the condition and stimulate long term memories so that those with dementia can share their stories.

Fuze strive to encourage a healthy lifestyle through our portable blender and App. We wanted to create a community where all types of people who were aiming to lead a healthier lifestyle would come together. This could range from athletes to parents who wanted to provide themselves or their children with healthy and reliable smoothies. Our app allows easy access to both workouts and healthy smoothie recipes, making a healthy lifestyle far more achievable.

Empneo also aims to spotlight some incredible young people who have done exceptional things but may not have gotten the credit that they deserve.
