Young Enterprise Manifesto 2024

Young Enterprise has over 60 years experience creating and delivering opportunities for young people to apply their learning to real-world contexts in the areas of enterprise, employability and financial education. Our Manifesto lays out the changes we want to see by 2030.

Our Goal for 2030

Our Manifesto sets out the steps that need to be taken in order for all young people to have the opportunities to build the skills, confidence and mindset they need to thrive in their early adult lives regardless of their starting point or where they live.

To achieve this, we will be working hard with our partners and with policy makers to move the dial in two key areas:

  1. Increasing access to applied learning opportunities; and
  2. Improving financial education for all young people

See what we are asking from the next Government and how our own work will help to achieve this by downloading our Manifesto.

Our 2024-2030 Transforming Futures Strategy

Our 2024-2030 Transforming Futures Strategy aims to increase young people’s engagement in education, improve preparedness for the world of work and help increase social mobility.

We plan to do this by:

  • Creating more opportunities for young people to apply their learning to address practical, real-world challenges. Applied learning has been shown to boost  attainment, attendance and attitudes to learning, improving student’s learning outcomes as well as build key transferable skills for the workplace. This means that young people are more prepared for the world of work, boosting the UK’s labour market and productivity.
  • Pairing these opportunities with quality financial education for all young people, so that they are more equipped to understand money, manage their finances and protect themselves from financial risks.
  • Prioritising resource to those young people the furthest from opportunity, as, while applied learning is beneficial to all students, we believe it is important to prioritise access to those from areas of disadvantage, where we have seen these opportunities achieve the biggest impacts, aiding social mobility.

Our Applied Learning Campaign

Applied learning is an active process in which learners use existing knowledge and understanding to address practical, real-world challenges.

We want to see more consistent access to opportunities for young people to apply their learning to real-world situations through their education, as research shows this can boost attainment, attendance and attitudes to learning as well as build key essential skills for the future. We have been partnering with organisations across the sector to explore best practice in applied learning, its benefits and how it could best be integrated into the current and future education system.
