Maths Matters Excerpt – Mathematics, Algebra and the Context of Money

This excerpt is from the Maths Matters: Using Financial Contexts in Secondary Mathematics teaching resource. We are currently in the process of updating the resource and will notify those on our mailing list once the resource in full is available.

This activity provides examples of how a financial context could be applied to the study of algebra and how this can relate to everyday life. It presents a case study detailing how one of the schools involved in the London Lead Teachers in Financial Mathematics project has developed financial context within this area, activity ideas that could be used in the classroom to deliver the subject content in a financial context, and exam style questions which can be used to assess learning.
